Good Catch: Ovarian Vein Thrombosis
4/27/2011
Russ Rudy, MD, FACEP Jeanie Taylor, RN, BSN, MS Edited by Graham Billingham, MD, FACEP, FAAEM
Scenario:
A 32-year-old female presents with RLQ pain near the end of the day shift.
She tells you she is sure she has a UTI - she has had them before and her symptoms
now are the same. Her past medical history is benign except for having a C-section
four weeks prior to the ED visit. Her vital signs are normal; no fever; no
complaints other than the RLQ pain that she rates as a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1-10.
You order a UA which is normal.
